We know how hard it is when you lose a special pet. We've all been there. We also know there are countless resources available to support and guide in times of emotional hardship. Here are just a handful of the groups and sites ready to help:

• The Delta Society offers a complete list of pet bereavement hotlines and telephone support on its website at www.deltasociety.org/dsn300.htm
• Tufts University has a pet-loss grief support hotline (508) 839-8766, Mon-Fri 6pm-9pm, EST, www.tufts.edu/vet/petloss/
• The ASPCA National Pet Loss Hotline offers free nationwide consultation to bereaved owners 24 hours a day. Call (212) 876-7700, ext. 4355 or toll-free (800) 946-4646, use keypad to punch in pin number 140-7211 and then your own phone number. The call will be returned immediately.
• The Pet Loss website offers grief support, inspiration, candle ceremonies and the famous Rainbow Bridge poem to help pet owners deal with grief: www.petloss.com
