Meet the Doctors

David J. Schwarz, DVM

Dr. Schwarz has been with AAH for 28 years. He graduated from Cornell Veterinary School in 1976 and instead of buying a sports car, he purchased AAH from Dr. Leon Cruise two years later. He hasn't regretted it. His patients don't regret it either – hospital staff reports that some of them nearly break their leashes trying to get to him. He holds the distinction of “Most ‘Kissed' Vet” and can be found curled up with patients who need a little extra TLC. Dr. Schwarz is also very active in the local and state veterinary community, currently volunteering with the Massachusetts Emergency Response Team. He is the current vice president of the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association. He loves his work, but his first love is definitely his kids, Elan, Adam, and Ana. His cats, L.B., Simba, and Flinch and jelly munchkins run a close second.

Geoffrey B. Kardon, VMD

Dr. Kardon joined AAH as a partner in 1990. He studied veterinary medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School, graduating in 1985. Dr. Kardon's professional interests include general veterinary medicine and surgery, veterinary ultrasound… and giving tours of the hospital! Happily, Dr. Kardon doesn't have to stop talking about any of his interests when he leaves work – his wife, Meryl, is also a veterinarian. When he's not at work Dr. Kardon is thinking about boating and spending time with his family and friends out on the ocean fishing and whale watching.

Robert M. Davis, DVM

Dr. Davis became an AAH partner in 1992. He did his undergrad and graduate work at Michigan State University (1978). Dr. Davis is on the Massachusetts Board of Registration for veterinary medicine, a position appointed him by the Governor. He still has plenty of time, though, for his interests – veterinary medicine and surgery, hospital management, breeder programs, and giving kisses to puppies. Out of the office, Dr. Davis enjoys running, travel, gardening, is a connoisseur of fine wine and an avid Red Sox fan. His family shares their home with two Labradors and two cats.

Sheela Devarakonda, DVM

Sheela Devarakonda is no stranger to AAH. She's worked here off and on since she was 16 years old! We like to say we must've done something right because Sheela received her doctorate from Purdue University in 2005 and has come back “home” to join the AAH team as an associate. Her veterinary interests are broad – she likes surgery, dentistry, ophthalmology, and internal medicine. At home her family is growing. She has a dog and a cat , has plans to add another puppy , and later, a husband, too – Sheela recently got engaged!
